When the Buddy Adventure system first came out in December 2019, our selected Buddy became more valuable. Instead of just gaining species specific candy for being a buddy, now there are more perks. Some of these perks are great tools that really enhance our Buddy.
Gift Find, which was added with the Quality of Life benefits, was a major help for many Trainers, especially those of us in more rural settings. At least we can give some gifts to friends and not just take on days that we cannot get to a high Pokestop area.
Catch Assist (“Buddyball”) is a great perks which comes at Level 2 Buddy. If a Pokeball hits the Pokemon you are trying to catch and it’s “attacking”, your buddy may come onto the screen and hit the Pokeball back at the Pokemon to try to catch it. I believe that this has saved a great number of Pokeballs from being used unsuccessfully and has likely converted many catches. It is virtually impossible to know how many fleeing Pokemon this has saved, but it is logical to believe that some have been saved.
The Additional Level at the Final Buddy Level is helpful, but is only gained when your buddy is active. It is nice when you need a boost for the T5 raids and your best counter Pokemon is a non-Mega (Smack Down/Rock Wrecker Rhyperior comes to mind against Flying).
There are new bonuses and tweaks of current bonuses that I would like to see. In future posts, I will visit these ideas. I will tag these posts with Buddy Adventure and/or Make Our Buddies More Valuable, so please follow these tags.
I hate that the Best Buddy boost only lasts while you’re walking with it. I have one I use for Ultra League PVP. To take advantage of the those extra points that took so long to get I have to stop walking with my current buddy that I’m trying level up. Just let us keep the buddy boost full time!

I actually was going to put that as my second Make Our Buddies More Valuable post, but I will pivot and do that one first..
